Egg Tray Production Line

Complete egg tray production lines from GDM Industries — recovered paper converted into molded-fiber egg trays. Six standard ECP models from 600 to 2,200 trays per hour, engineered in Türkiye since 1979.

An egg tray production line converts recovered paper into molded-fiber egg trays through a continuous, controlled process. GDM Industries designs and manufactures these lines as complete systems — pulp preparation, vacuum forming, drying, vacuum and control are specified together for each project.

How the line works

Recovered paper or approved fiber is mixed with water in the pulper and broken down into a stable pulp suspension. The suspension is stored and conditioned in tanks, then fed to the forming machine, where fiber is deposited on product-specific moulds under vacuum and dewatered. Wet trays are transferred into the dryer, brought to the required moisture level, and collected for stacking and palletizing. Process water is recovered into the water circuit of the line.

Each stage is engineered as part of one balanced system. The pulp preparation, forming, drying and automation sections are described in the Engineering section of this site.

The standard ECP range

The rated capacities of the ECP range are expressed on a standard 30-egg tray with a 320 × 320 mm mould module. Six standard models cover outputs from 600 to 2,200 trays per hour, all built on the same industrial architecture:

  • ECPS-600E — 600 trays/hour, 2 mould stations
  • ECPS-900E — 900 trays/hour, 3 mould stations
  • ECPM-1200E — 1,200 trays/hour, 4 mould stations
  • ECPM-1500E — 1,500 trays/hour, 5 mould stations
  • ECPL-1800E — 1,800 trays/hour, 6 mould stations
  • ECPL-2200E — 2,200 trays/hour, 6 mould stations

Actual output depends on product geometry, pulp recipe, moisture target, drying conditions and the final project specification.

Single and dual line configurations

Most projects run as a single production line. Where higher total output is the target, a dual-line configuration can be engineered around a shared pulp-preparation system: two independent forming lines, each with its own dryer, fed by one prepared-pulp system. Final configuration, utilities and auxiliary equipment are engineered for the project.

Beyond egg trays

Because product geometry is mould-specific, the same platform produces fruit and produce trays, food trays and protective molded-fiber packaging. A producer can serve several markets from one line.

Recycled raw material

From recovered paper to molded-fiber products

GDM production lines are built around recovered paper: with water and controlled process conditions, selected paper is prepared into pulp, formed and dried into molded-fiber products in one continuous line.

Recovered paper

Recovered paper or approved fiber is brought into the process as the raw material.

Pulping with water

Paper is mixed with water in the pulper and broken down into a pulp suspension.

Pulp preparation

Mixers and tanks keep the suspension consistent and feed the forming section at a steady rate.

Vacuum forming

Fiber is deposited on product-specific moulds under vacuum and dewatered; process water is recovered into the line’s water circuit.

Drying

Formed products are dried to the required moisture level and collected for downstream handling.

The same process architecture runs across the ECP range. Raw-material handling, pulp preparation and process-water recovery are configured for the project.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions producers ask most when planning an egg tray production line.

What raw materials can the line process?

GDM lines are designed for recovered paper or approved fiber, mixed with water into a pulp suspension. Raw-material preparation is configured for the project.

What products can the line produce besides egg trays?

The ECP platform is a molded-fiber production system, not a single-product machine. Product geometry is mould-specific, so fruit trays, food trays and protective packaging can be produced with product-specific moulds and configured process parameters.

What capacity does the standard range offer?

Six standard models cover 600 to 2,200 standard 30-egg trays per hour (reference mould module 320 × 320 mm). Actual output depends on product geometry, pulp recipe, moisture target and drying conditions.

How do I choose between models?

Selection is driven by production target and site conditions, not model number alone. The model selector on the production lines page gives indicative guidance; final sizing is confirmed against your product and site conditions.

Can I run a single or a dual production line?

Both. A single line is the standard configuration. Projects that need higher total output can be engineered as a dual-line configuration around shared upstream pulp preparation.

What does GDM provide beyond the machinery?

Project configuration, line layout and installation and commissioning support, operator training, spare-parts support and export documentation — with moulds and tooling developed for the target product.
